We are Annie and Areeb!

We created Urdu With Annie
for you and your kids.

To learn to speak Urdu
with comfort and confidence.

And to enjoy your Urdu learning journey with us.

Urdu With Annie is all about fostering a love of Urdu in people of all ages and from all cultures by making conversational Urdu accessible, inclusive, and super comfortable for everyone. Urdu is a beautiful language. Here at Urdu With Annie, we believe in forming connections that will let you experience the beauty, practicality, and the brilliant diversity of Urdu.

Urdu With Annie was born from the simple idea that language is a doorway to connect with others and make oneself and others feel at home.

And today, we are proud to share that we’ve helped over 500 learners of different ages to begin their Urdu learning journey with comfort and confidence.

"If culture was a house, then language was the key to the front door, [and] to all rooms inside. Without it, he said, you ended up wayward, without a proper home or a legitimate identity."

says Khaled Hosseini in the book, And the Mountains Echoed

Hello and Assalam-u-alaikum! Thank you for stopping by!

I’m Annie, and I live in the beautiful province of Alberta, Canada, with my partner, Areeb. Alongside us, you’ll find our lovely collection of indoor plants and fish. Fun fact about me: I cherish simple joys and love finding happiness in the little things.

With a passion for teaching and an entrepreneurial spirit inherited from my dad, I created Urdu With Annie—all with Areeb’s unwavering support. I love designing fun and engaging online lessons for learners of all ages, ensuring that every curriculum is age-appropriate and thoughtfully structured. Teaching this beautiful language brings me immense joy! Beyond the classroom, I spend my time planning, strategizing, and researching to create unique games and activities for both live and self-paced learning experiences. And since I love connecting with my learners, you’ll also find me in emails and on social media—primarily Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.

This journey has been both fulfilling and exciting! Teaching children and adults brings me equal joy, each in its own special way. For kids, I use plenty of props—Shairu being their absolute favorite! With adults, I enjoy diving into grammar rules and engaging in meaningful conversations. But one thing remains the same across all my classes: interactive games and fun conversations that make learning Urdu feel natural and enjoyable. Seeing my learners’ progress and hearing their “aha!” moments makes it all worthwhile.

I feel incredibly grateful to have built Urdu With Annie—my passion, my home, my heart. Watching it grow and reach homes around the world is nothing short of amazing. My love for the Urdu language, ed-tech, and teaching continues to grow every day, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you!

Hello and Assalamualaikum,

I’m Areeb, a marketer living in Alberta, working alongside my life and business partner, Annie, to bring Urdu With Annie to life. I handle the marketing and operations while supporting Annie wherever needed to help our vision grow.

I’ve always been captivated by communication, its strategies, nuances, and everything in between. Being bilingual, I found myself diving deep into both English and Urdu, especially drawn to the poetic elegance of Urdu. Its beauty in both prose and poetry inspired me to become a bit of a poet myself.

Urdu With Annie was born from our combined passions, skills, and ambitions. It started as a shared vision and has grown into something truly special. From Annie’s very first class to the wide range of courses we offer today, our journey has been shaped by the needs and experiences of our learners. As they learn from us, we continue to learn from them—constantly evolving to become better.

Reflecting on this journey, I’ve found myself growing in identity, confidence, and purpose. My goal is to make Urdu With Annie a space where others can experience the same sense of growth and connection with the Urdu language.

We thank you for stopping by,

Annie and Areeb.
