This subscription course is thoughtfully designed to build your kid’s foundational conversation skills, while simultaneously introducing and reinforcing new vocabulary each week through engaging activities and games seamlessly integrated into every self-paced lesson. Kids build their comfort and confidence to speak Urdu through singing, games and many fun activities.

As someone who has worked with kids of this age group, I have found that they enjoy learning more when their parents are involved. Through my experience, I have observed that kids respond better when their parents prompt them, retain the content better when their parents are included in the conversation, and enjoy learning more when their parents become their partners or opponents in games and activities. They become an ideal first contact for children to practice and converse with in Urdu.

Since the goal of Urdu with Annie is to develop the learners’ skills to speak and understand Urdu, as well as to foster confidence when communicating in this language, we have designed a unique format for this course. In this course, your kids will have you and Shairu (the passionate Urdu-learning lion) as their partners in the lesson.

The curriculum is meticulously designed to encourage kids to gradually build vocabulary and learn sentence structures each successive week. This course begins with Module 1 (assuming that the child has zero to little exposure to structured Urdu learning) and contains 20 weeks (meaning 20 lessons). Each successive level contains 20 weeks of structured curriculum for language development. This is followed by two review weeks.

The instructions in the beginning are primarily in English and is gradually moved to a bilingual approach so that the learners could fully understand the lesson and could follow along with ease and comfort.

Each week, kids build vocabulary, practice Urdu words, and implement them during a game or an activity during the lesson. Some examples of these activities are Show & Tell, Kahoot, Scavenger Hunt, Simon Bola, and many more games and activities designed exclusively by the Urdu With Annie team to provide the best gamified and hands-on learning experience.

To cater to the short attention span of young learners, this course is designed for a 30-minute teaching time where the teaching time is divided into two parts with an embedded 10-minute break.

Every week, you receive the Speaking Urdu With Shairu lesson that will have these components.

1. Guided Lesson Video:

• A 40-minute recorded, interactive, self-paced lesson video. This includes 30-minute teaching time plus a 10-minute break. We know young learners can have short attention spans, so this setup allows them to recharge between the lesson.
• The lessons feature the beloved hand puppet “Shairu,” who makes learning a blast! Each lesson is designed as a fun activity or engaging story to keep your kids hooked. These stories, games, and activities are tailor-made for young learners in a non-live setting.
• The curriculum is carefully designed for this age group. Each lesson will allow your kids to learn new vocabulary, and develop skills to construct their own sentences in Urdu. We will cover subtle grammar topics that are essential for conversational fluency.
• For parents, I’ve got you covered too! You’ll find clear instructions on how to use the lesson effectively, along with simple guided prompts to make completing the lesson a breeze.

Note: Parents must join the learners during the lessons to unlock the full potential of this learning journey. By participating, you create a fun, supportive environment that boosts understanding and fuels their progress. It’ll also create an immersive environment that fosters language acquisition and strengthens your family bond.

2. Practice Tasks: To ensure that learning continues beyond the class, practice tasks are provided for every week’s topic. These learning tasks are carefully and uniquely tailored so that the kids practice the concepts and/or vocabulary learned during the lesson and are able to enjoy as they continue to practice their Urdu conversation skills with excitement and fun.

3. Feedback on Practice Tasks: Your learner will receive feedback every week upon submission of their practice tasks.

4. Learner Progress Tracker: To ensure that I, as a teacher, closely assess the kid’s progress in class, a Progress Tracker Form is sent each week to the parent to fill after learners finish the lesson. This Progress Tracker Form is kept short and sweet to allow you to easily fill it weekly.

5. Conversation Starter Prompts: You’ll receive conversation starters with every lesson to incorporate simple Urdu conversations in your regular interaction with the kids. These prompts make it easy and enjoyable to practice Urdu in everyday situations, further enhancing your child’s language skills.

If you choose to stop your subscription, you may do so at your end or you can also email us to stop the subscription for future weeks when you're away.
